Prawn has good amount of Selenium. It is good for heart since it has Omega 3 acids. Its good for teeth and bones. In Tamil it is called as Iral. In western it is called as Shrimp. There are many varieties of Prawns available in the market. Little size to Lobster size. Now we will make Chettinad prawn pepper Curry.


Ingredients:

Prawn/Shrimp/Iral - 300gm
Tomato - 1
Onion - 1
Garlic pods - 3
Dry Red chilli - 2
Cinnamon - ½ inch
Cloves - 4
Green cardamon - 2
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
Black pepper powder - ½ tsp
Curd/yogurt - 2 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 leaflet
Coconut oil - 2 tsp
Coriander leaves for garnishing

Steps:

Wash the prawn well and keep aside. Make sure all shell removed including at tails.

Heat a pan and add two table spoon of coconut oil. Once oil hot add spices Cinnamon, cardamon, cloves and crushed garlic pods.
Once garlic fried well, add Chopped onion, Curry leaves and Dry red chilli. Stir it.
Once onion gets translucent, add chopped tomato.

Add prawns once tomato become mushy and stir it. Close the lid and cook for a minute.

Then add red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder and stir it.
Add curd now and stir it such a way that curd will coated well with shrimp. Add ½ cup water and close the lid for 4 minutes to cook. If you want dry, do not add water or just sprinkle little water.

Add black pepper powder now. The gravy color will turn well. Just cook for a minute.

Finally garnish with coriander leaves.
Your Chettinad pepper prawn masala is ready. Serve along with your favorite main course.
