Tamil Brahmin's make recipe in unique style, flavor and taste. Also the recipe will be very healthy. I tried Spinach gravy in the same style and end result is awesome. Lets see how to make.


Spinach - 1 bunch
Moong dal - ¼ cup
Onion - 1
Tomato -1
Red chilli - 3
Green chilli - 3
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Black pepper powder - ½ tsp
Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
Ground Peanut powder - 5 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin seed - 1tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Ghee - 2 tsp
Salt for taste
Oil for seasoning


Wash the Spinach thoroughly to remove the sand and cook for 2 minutes with very little water. Just wilting is enough.

Pressure Cook moong dal for 2 whistle and set aside.
Heat 3 tsp of oil in a pan. Once oil hot, add mustard seed, cumin seeds and urad dal.
Add red chilli and green chilli when mustard start spluttering and fry it. Then add chopped onion and fry until the onion gets translucent.

Then add tomato and salt. Cook until the tomato become mushy.
Now add black pepper powder, turmeric powder and cumin powder and stir it.
Once raw smell goes out, add cooked spinach and stir it. Cook for 3 minutes.
Now add the cooked moong dal and stir it. Cook for 2 minutes.
Finally add groundnut powder and stir it. (Ground nut fried without oil before making powder)
Finally add ghee with gravy and cook for 1 minute in low flame.
Now mouth watering Spinach gravy is ready to serve.
